Also known as the Magellanic Gull, the Dolphin Gull is found in southern Chile, Argentina, and the Falkland Islands.
Often found among other seabird colonies they have a varied diet, and like most gulls, they are opportunistic feeders. As well as scavenging and eating carrion they will also take chicks and eggs where adult birds have been scared away. Because human activity can be the cause of this, your naturalist guides will help to ensure that you don't disturb nesting seabirds on your Antarctic excursions.
Dolphin gulls have a broadly grey appearance with red beaks and legs, and there are estimated to be up to 28,000 individuals in the South Atlantic.
